This website has been created by five undergraduate students as a capstone project for the completion of our Bachelor of Science degrees in Animal Health at the University of Alberta. We each have a unique relationship with the horse industry including show jumping/competing, work experience, veterinary clinics, recreational involvement, and many of us aspire to be veterinarians in the future. Our overall goal for our capstone project is to spread awareness about equine developmental orthopedic disease (DOD) so that members of the local equine community can identify, manage, and prevent DOD in their own horses. From this project we hope to create awareness for the public about the broad conditions of DOD, reduce occurrences of the disease, and provide mechanisms to mitigate the prevalence of DOD.
